Program Requirements
Because the teacher licensure program is designed individually by you in collaboration with an advisor in the School of Education, program requirements vary. These are dependent upon your chosen Illinois teacher licensure, and you must meet the same requirements as North Park’s undergraduate students for each area. Some of these requirements may have been met by your previous undergraduate coursework. Your advisor will help you devise a plan to meet your educational and career goals.

- (Grades 6–12)
- (Art, Spanish, Music, or Physical Education)
Please note: Post-bachelor’s licensure candidates are not required to complete the undergraduate Core Curriculum. You must only meet the program requirements for education courses and in order to meet requirements for Illinois state licensure.
In order to qualify for , you must also maintain a 2.5 overall GPA, 2.75 GPA in your major/concentration area, and 2.75 GPA in education coursework.
Secondary and K–12 education license candidates must take a minimum of 24 semester hours at ϳԹ; early childhood and elementary education candidates must take a minimum of 28 semester hours at ϳԹ.
All professional education and content-area coursework that forms part of an application for licensure, endorsement, or approval must have been passed with a grade of no lower than “C” in order to be counted toward fulfillment of the applicable requirements.
