Apply to Study Abroad

Before You Apply

1. Watch the Study Abroad 101 Recording or attend an information session

2. Complete Your Traveler Profile

Log on with your NPU username and password:

3. Meet with Your Advisor

Meet with your academic or faculty advisor to discuss the best time to go abroad and which major, minor, or general education courses you should take.

4. Research Programs

Search for programs and ask yourself the following questions:

  • How long do you want to study abroad?
  • What type(s) of program interest you?
  • What locations offer classes that will fulfill your major/minor/GE requirements?
  • Where will your scholarships apply?

5. Meet with the Office of International Affairs

Once you have completed the first three steps—or if you’re not sure where to get started—contact Ruby Benigno (long-term programs) or Tessa Zanoni (short-term programs) to set up a one-on-one study abroad advising meeting.

Application Deadlines

Students wishing to study abroad during a semester, summer, or academic year program must submit the North Park Study Abroad Application for approval by the following dates:

  • Fall semester or Academic Year program applications due: March 1
  • Spring semester program applications due: September 15
  • Summer semester program applications due: February 15

Late applications may be accepted for particular programs at the discretion of the Office of International Affairs. For best chance of placement, submit a complete application by the deadline. It is your responsibility to submit a complete application by the appropriate deadline.

Application Requirements

You will need the following information ready in order to complete your application:

  1. A photo or digital copy of your passport. You can still apply without a passport, but if you already have one, please upload as part of the application.
  2. Name and email address of your faculty advisor (not sure who this is? Check ). You must enter this information on the application, and your advisor will be emailed a form to complete to authorize you for study abroad.
  3. Name and email address of an NPU faculty member who you have requested to write a letter of recommendation for study abroad. They will receive further email instructions after you submit the study abroad application (click here to see the questions they will need to answer). Please be sure to contact this person at least two weeks in advance of the study abroad deadline and ask  if they are willing to write a letter of recommendation for you.

Your application will be reviewed after your advisor and recommender have submitted their forms to the Office of International Affairs. Remember: you are required to complete supplemental application materials for the NPU Exchange, ISEP, and CCCU Global Ed programs.
