Dr. Ann Ownby Hicks teaches accounting in the School of Business and Nonprofit Management, helping students make sense out of complex information.
Prior to joining North Park’s faculty, Hicks spent nearly 20 years in senior-level accounting and finance positions in real estate and education. This experience, combined with her passion for teaching and the relationships she builds with students, helps her communicate the possibilities that accounting holds for future careers. “Accounting is a great business field to get into,” she says. “Jobs and careers are plentiful and often are a stepping stone into a company.”
Hicks invites guest speakers from companies around the city to speak to her classes and sponsors student accounting interns in various Chicago companies. Through all these activities, she helps her students discover accounting’s possibilities.
