ϳԹ’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) will partner with the College of DuPage (COD) in Glen Ellyn in a program that guarantees COD transfer students admission to North Park.
Even before students transfer to North Park, the two schools will collaborate to seamlessly guide students from their associate degree at COD to completing their bachelor’s degrees at North Park.
“This agreement formalizes and elevates an excellent new partnership that gives students of the College of DuPage an opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degrees at ϳԹ, in the world-class city of Chicago,” said North ParkʰԳMary K. Surridge. “We are delighted to provide this life-changing opportunity for so many students.”
SPS Dean Lori Scrementi said the two schools “hope to create a community of learning for all, not only with fellow students but with faculty and staff, to build a strong, supportive network before, during, and after their time at ϳԹ.”
Scrementi said that with its integration of Christian, intercultural, and city-centered values, SPS gives students tools for lifelong learning and a strong sense of community-focused decision-making. Faculty and staff bring the wisdom gained from their professions and vocations into their positions at North Park.
COD’s provost, Mark Curtis-Chávez, said the institutional partnership between the schools “reflects our mutual and intentional level of commitment to providing students a clear pathway towards a timely degree in a growing number of academic programs.”
He added: “We look forward to continued collaboration with North Park as we develop new ways to best support students.”

Nationally, students who transfer from two- to four-year schools are graduating with bachelor’s degrees in historically high numbers.
The scholarships are available to transfer students who have achieved outstanding grade point averages at their previous institutions.
Under North Park’s new award structure: The Platinum scholarship, available to those with a GPA of 3.5 or greater, increases to $13,000 from $9,000, a 44% increase; the Gold scholarship, for students with GPAs between 3.0-3.49, will increase to $9,500 from $7,500, a 26% increase; and the Silver award increases to $7,000 from $5,000, a 40% jump.
“We believe that these increases in scholarship funds will attract even more high achieving academic students to our world-class institution,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Anthony Scola. “Even more students will be able to experience the life-changing benefits of a North Park education.”
Founded in 1891 by the Evangelical Covenant Church, ϳԹ is located on Chicago’s North Side and enrolls 3,200 students. Programs such as Catalyst 606__, a city-centered curriculum, and Crux, North Park’s Christian living/learning cohort, allow students to find themselves academically and spiritually.
Nationally, the outcomes for students who transfer from two- to four-year colleges have improved in recent years. Of the 268,000 students who transferred from a community college to a four-year institution in 2017, about 42% of those went on to earn a bachelor’s degree, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.
