2022-2023 Events

We have our first talk of the year on Friday September 9th at noon. 

This talk is by Dhanesh Krishnarao, the newest professor in our department.  His talk is entitled "A Protective Cocoon Around Small Nearby Galaxies: The Magellanic Corona"

Career talks focus on a CC alum who is now out in the world.  The talks outline how the alum got from where you are sitting to where they are now.  You will also get to learn about what the alum is doing doing now. These are amazing opportunities for you to network and learn from someone who was once where you are now.

Friday October 7th at noon we will have a career talk by Frank Quinlan who is a CC alum.  Dr. Quinlan currently works at NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) as a researcher in the field of optics.  

Who grew up on a farm?  Has been to more than 20 countries?  Love artichokes?  Come learn quirky facts about fellow classmates while enjoying lunch!

Kevin Shrewsbury, a CC chemistry major, will describe his journey from CC to working in green energy at Colorado Springs Utilities.

Our annual REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) preparation workshop.  Get a jump on summer research!

Please do the following to prepare:

 1) Make an initial list of programs you are interested in, along with required components of each application. What type of essays, how many letters, official or unofficial transcripts, etc. If you haven't already started, choose at least one program and draft ideas for that application.

 2) Work on your resume or CV and bring a printed draft with you. /offices/careercenter/applying/resume.html

 3) Write down some thoughts about one of the personal statements or essays required for one application. We will work on our statements and resumes in groups.
