The mission of the Southwest Studies program is to provide the finest liberal arts education, using a critical regional studies approach, centered on the Greater Southwest and the U.S.-Mexico borderlands.

The program's interdisciplinary approach to people, places, and landscapes provides a model of study applicable to various professions. Southwest Studies' place-based pedagogy allows students to learn from and with the southwest region in order to co-create sustainable solutions to issues regarding environmentalism, immigration, education, etc.

The Southwest Studies program is housed in the Hulbert Center for Southwest Studies, located at 1109 N. Cascade (just north of the Tutt Library).
