Faculty Visiting Speakers

Faculty can apply for up to $3500 to support visiting speakers for classroom and CC community enrichment. These funds support bringing distinguished visitors to the campus for a period of a few days. The visitors may give campus-wide lectures, lectures to or conversations with classes, informal seminars, or presentations to CC community student groups. Opportunities to meet and work with students are the primary focus of this fund and should be detailed in applications. Proposals should try to maximize the exposure of the visitors to the campus community. An all-campus lecture is recommended. Funding may be combined with other resources. Events to be funded with this grant must include students as participants.

(Requests for full block visitors should go through department chairs to the Dean of the Faculty for funding.)

Applications for the Faculty Visiting Speaker Grant should include:

  • name and CV/Resume for the proposed speaker
  • a detailed description of the proposed visit including proposed events and opportunities for interactions with students
  • a detailed, itemized budget with events identified that include student participation

Proposals are reviewed on a rolling schedule throughout the year (until resources in this fund have been fully allocated) by the Vice Provost and should be submitted by individual faculty sponsoring the proposed visit to Karen Lee Smith, Executive Assistant in the Office of the Provost (x6686).
