The Advising Hub is offering Academic Coaching sessions. In academic coaching appointments, our role is not to simply provide advice or direction but to collaborate with you on your journey and help you in the areas that you want to grow, not just areas you might be struggling in. We believe that Academic Coaching can make a significant difference in your college experience, contributing to your personal and academic success.

WHAT IS ACADEMIC COACHING?

At its core, Academic Coaching s a collaborative and trusting relationship. The topics are led by you. It involves structured conversations where you, as a student, will be empowered to: 

  • Set goals- define your academic and personal objectives and take meaningful steps to achieve them. 

  • Accountability to stay focused and committed. 

  • Gain a different perspective into your study habits and thought processes. 

  • Recognize your unique strengths and areas where you can enhance your skills. 

  • Improve self-awareness and self-management of learning and behaviors. 

  • Practical and effective study techniques tailored to how you work best. 

What can you work on in an academic coaching session?

Academic coaching sessions are driven by you, so we begin with the areas you want to work on. Some ideas include: 

  • Short or long term goal setting 
  • Ways to study more effectively 
  • Ideas for resisting procrastination 
  • Strategies to help you with balance, so that you aren’t overworking yourself 
  • Collaborating on making a study schedule and other time management tools 
  • Academic anxiety 
  • Organizing and planning
